background

The growth of world population increases energy consumption and demand in the world.
Nowadays energy that civilization needs to operate is specially produced by limited resources (mostly fossil resources like petroleum and coal) whose gradual but inevitable breakdown, jointly with the pollution they generate, forces to a development model thorough review.
Thanks to the scientific progress we can improve efficiency in energy production and limit pollution, as well we can restrain consumption growth educating people to use more carefully energy resources.
However these solutions are not suitable to radically solve the problem of the available resources breakdown.
Instead, the development model must be renewed from a "consumption" viewpoint to a "cycle" viewpoint, starting from energyproduction which is essential for the existence of modern civilization.
If we try to use natural resources, we can replace energy limited sources like liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons, coal and nuclear, reducing environmental impact through CO2 abatement, ensuring energy future continuity.
Renewable energy sources, like sun, wind and water, represent the future: they haven’t any impact on the environment and they are inexhaustible:
The sun is the biggest and reliable clean energy source, it has not production and transportation costs.
That’s why photovoltaic technology is becoming increasingly important; it can convert solar energy directly into electricity.
The wind: wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as electricity, using wind turbines. It has the lowest price in relation to the cost of production.
The water is one of the biggest energy sources of the earth. Recently it’s starting to provide clean energy to many countries through its forces: the tides, the currents produced by tides or winds, salinity gradient and the difference of temperature between the ocean surface and its deep, from which thermal energy results, as well the energy produced through the construction of dikes and dams.
